Money is a collective fiction, so how can we build the future of faster and fairer systems?

The concept of money has never failed to fascinate me. I hate it, and I am totally riveted by it.
What set humans apart from every other species was never empathy or superior intelligence. It is a singular quality: the ability to understand abstract concepts and implement them so heavily that we build entire civilisations around a collective agreement that something notional means SOMETHING. 🤝
Money is like religion in this sense. You need a lot of people to believe in it to make it legitimate. But things get even harder in the case of money, because at least god is real, but money is completely imaginary!
Throughout history, those who understood the abstract mechanics and mathematics of money have dominated the world order. And those people deliberately designed financial systems to be obscure and complex (and boring), to ensure minimal disruption to the social hierarchy.
However, preserving clever loopholes for a select few and math that doesn't really add up has come at the cost of massive capital inefficiency, high latency, economic exclusion, and a total collapse of social trust.
The time has come for a new financial revolution in how money moves and markets are designed.
I've always focused on building things that reflect the vision of a better future and using technology as a tool for social justice. After a year of learning and levelling up, I'm officially back at it again. 💫
The overarching vision of Fullmetal is simple: It is to build the future of faster and fairer systems through mathematically elegant and innovative decentralised financial protocols.
